Stamp

We have been learning to use Google Drawings to create a pasifika themed stamp. Which we will create a 3D version using tinkercad and then it will be 3D printed.

Oscar Romero

This is a narrative that has been entered in the Elsie Locke competition. This story is based on how Oscar Romero protested for poor peoples rights.

“Hello brothers and sisters today we are gather here in the name of Christ” Oscar Romero said.
As he spoke, I thought of how many people he inspired. I saw the doors of the chapel swing open and  BOOM! I took a deep breath in fear and fell to my knees. My eyes watered in sadness. The floor was covered in red blood and my heart broke when I saw Oscar’s body dead on the ground.  Shock took over me and I started to panic.  I prayed to the Lord to help me as I felt pain sinking inside.
“Oh my goodness!” I heard someone in the congregation scream.
Most people rushed over to help, others were just in shock. Everybody looked devastated. To see the shock on people's faces makes me drown in sorrow. He was the most inspiring man who fought till his last day and to think that he is gone. No way this has happened. I crawl over to see his face one last time and it is covered with blood. A tear of mine dropped on his sorrowful face thinking this was a dream but no, I was just living in reality.

His body was taken away for his funeral and other nuns and I cleaned up thinking that he is now in the hands of the Lord, but sadness had taken away hope. The floor is now polished, sparkly and clean but now my path ends not knowing what to do, no words to say without Oscar Romero to speak for me.

I walked across the pathway to Oscar Romero’s funeral holding a bouquet of his favourite flowers. We all showed our respect and stood there in silence. We all grieved for the loss of our friend and leader, Oscar Romero. We all said goodbye to the voice that always stood up for us and tried to change how we were all treated. I cried and cried until my eyes ran out of tears. BOOM! BOOM! My heart was shattered in little pieces like glass being smashed onto the ground.

World Refugee Day- Tagul

Letter to Damon

In Room 5 we wrote letters to the Midlab to show how much we appreciate learning more about Technology.

Dear Damon
Coming to the Mindlab was a fantastic experience. I learn’t how to use tinkercad and all about robotics, it was awesome! My favourite part was designing the bag badges learning about the 3D printer and most of all using the robot. I would love to come back and learn lots more about technology. Thank you Damon for leading us to a better future in technology.

Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was born on August 15th 1917 in Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador. He fought for the poor people who weren't treated fairly. Oscar Romero was Rutilio Grande greatest friend. Rutilio Grande was driving to visit one of his chapels when he was brutally assassinated by the Government. From that day on Oscar Romero wanted to change El Salvador and bring the poor justice. He spoke against poverty, injustice and torture.

Oscar Romero made sure that his voice could be heard to help the poor people have hope by public speaking and telling people to treat the poor fairly. He made the Government, rich and powerful people angry. They wanted to silence him so the Christian message wouldn't influence people, so they blew up the radio station. Oscar Romero knew he was going to die but never stopped spreading the Christian word that gave people hope.

On Monday 24th of March 1980 Archbishop Romero was celebrating mass in the chapel when a marksman came up to the door with a gun taking his target and BOOM. Archbishop Romero was dead on the ground, the congregation were all in tears. Everybody was devastated. He fought for the poor people to his last day.

Vatican II Before and After

Pre Vatican II
After Vatican II (1964)
Mass said in Latin
Mass said in local language
Women could not take up roles such as altar servers, Church ministers and other roles.
Women are now allowed to become ministers, upfront as readers and other roles in the Church.
It was the Church's rule that the Priest faced away from the congregation (facing to God)
The Priest now faces the congregation
The Jews were our enemies because they killed  Jesus
The Jews are now part of our human family, because they are our brothers and sisters in humanity.
Before Vatican II, the whole world sang the same songs according to the Rome and the Catholic calendar.
Churches can now select hymns of their own that represents their unique community and culture.

The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan

I am lying on the ground feeling nothing but pain as I have been robbed. I can taste the red liquid blood in my mouth and feel blood dripping from my head and I am feeling woozy. I see  a priest walk past as if I wasn't there. I try to say help but nothing comes out of my mouth. I am shivering with worn clothes and I look up to the sky and see the clouds. I see another man pass me not bothering to help me. I close my eyes and then I feel someone's warm hands on me. I open my eyes. It is a Samaritan. I think to myself what is he going to do, stab me until i’m dead? No, he gives me water and takes me away on his donkey.
