Hippo fossils

The researchers have developed that hippos come from a family of plant eating and they could not confirm it, because it was 15 million years ago when it was discovered.

Lihoreau and his research team stumbled on a jaw of a hippo, so they became curious. This was how they investigated and researched on hippos.

The patterns on the fossil found was unique, it made  a connection from the ancient time to the modern day hippos. Did you know that ancient hippos weigh more than 220 pounds !

The researchers believed that hippos were related to whales because both of them spend a lot of time underwater.

Lihoreau called hippos real Africa mammals because hippos were originally from Africa and not brought from another country. Lions, giraffes and zebras were not from Africa, they were brought in from another country.
